Here’s a hometown story to warm your heart. You must be familiar with the famous Dutch artist Vincent Willem Van Gogh, but have you heard about "Van Gogh Grandmother"?

These paintings weren’t created by Van Gogh, but were made by "Van Gogh Grandmother."

In 2003, a 67-year-old Chinese woman, Chang Xiufeng, moved to Guangzhou to live with her son. Having spent almost all her life in the countryside, she wanted to show her granddaughter the beauty of her hometown. Chang used her granddaughter's crayons to depict the picturesque landscapes from her hometown memories despite never learning to write, let alone paint. 

Chang's son was amazed by his mother's talent and posted her paintings on the Internet. And soon Chang's post-impressionistic paintings earned her the nickname "Van Gogh Grandmother."

Famous France-based photographer Klavdij Sluban said, "Chang and I both show art with heart, not with machines and pens." The success of Chang’s works relies not only on her talents, but also her deep love for her hometown.

Like Chang, we always cherish the memories of our hometowns wherever we travel or live because we all feel our hometown is unique. It could be the taste of the food, the beautiful views, or a culture that cannot be found anywhere except in your hometown.
